Our Own Backyard
For more than two decades, a team of dedicated Northwest Chapel volunteers has faithfully served the homeless in Our Own Backyard, meeting basic needs of folks in our community. It all started with a group of dedicated women with hearts to serve, knowing a well-rounded meal and Christ-rooted encouragement would satiate not only hunger for food, but also for God.
For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’
Deuteronomy 15:11
We believe God’s mission focuses us. That’s why every week, we prepare meals, pack toiletries and personally deliver to folks living near Broad Street in Downtown Columbus. Learn more about this important outreach, and consider how God might be calling you to serve behind the scenes or on the delivery team. We encourage groups, families and student ministries to serve together as a way to build community.
