Our Own Backyard
For more than two decades, a team of dedicated Northwest Chapel volunteers has faithfully served the homeless in Our Own Backyard, meeting basic needs of folks in our community. It all started with a group of dedicated women with hearts to serve, knowing a well-rounded meal and Christ-rooted encouragement would satiate not only hunger for food, but also for God.
For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’
Deuteronomy 15:11
Reach..Grow..Serve..Reproduce!
OOBY is a ministry that seeks to reach those most in need, grow as disciples in Christ, and serve by loving God and loving our neighbors. We provide a hot meal, hope, love, and encouragement each Saturday to those in need. Opportunities to serve include cooking a meal, driving the bus, sharing the Gospel, and praying with those we serve. You can also donate food, water, and toilet paper.
