Children’s Ministries

Vision & Goals:

We believe children need to be nurtured early in their faith, growing into lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. Our goal for the children is that they learn to engage Jesus and others every day for eternal impact.

COVID-19 Season Update – No in-Person Children’s Classes

We’re so encouraged to be able to meet in person again as of June 7; we’ve missed being together! We understand that some may not feel comfortable meeting in person yet, and that’s OK. We trust that no matter the distance or sickness in this unique season, wherever you are, there’s hope and healing in Jesus Christ

We have entered Phase One of regathering, which includes:

  1. Family worship services only
  2. No children, student, or adult classes – these will continue online during Phase One
  3. Worship celebrations will continue to be available online on our website and YouTube channel Sunday mornings.

We prepare practical Sunday School lessons for children and families each week that are delivered via email in this season. To sign up to receive, please fill out the contact form.

How can your Child Stay Connected to God and the Northwest Chapel Family during this Time?

Following are a few things for parents and children to prayerfully consider to stay connected to God while kids’ classes are not meeting on Sundays. Simply contact Megan Hess through the contact form for more information and to join.

Bible Study:
Wednesdays 10 – 10:30 a.m.

Three-year-olds through fourth graders are invited to connect and study the Bible together online. Contact Megan Hess for the Zoom link to join this group.

Family Sermon Activities:

NWC Children’s Ministries Director, Megan Hess, distributes practical Sunday School lessons for children and families each week that are delivered to parents via email. To sign up to receive fill out the contact form.

Family Devotionals for all Ages:

Word of Life Ministries, the same curriculum we use for our Wednesday night programming, is offering content for all ages ranging from preschool through adults. While each age group does their own daily devotional at a level appropriate for them, everyone is focusing on the same Bible verse so family discussion is easy! Please visit here for more.

Typical Sundays at Northwest Chapel…

While children’s classes are not currently meeting in person, on a typical Sunday morning when we gather at Northwest Chapel, we offer children’s programming for every age, and always start with security.

Check-In & Out: The computerized check-in system is in place to protect the children in our care. Please visit our “Let’s Go!” check-in table located in the commons to register your children into the system. Once they are in the system you may go to any kiosk to sign them in and retrieve the stickers you need. Any allergies you list will appear on your child’s sticker to keep teachers informed.

Nursery: Infants – Walkers are cared for by dedicated volunteers in fully equipped nursery rooms.

2-Year-Old: use the ”Play & Worship” curriculum written and published by Children’s Ministry Magazine & Group Publishing. Each week the children listen to a Bible story, a CD and DVD with praise songs and motions and engage in fun, age-appropriate activities.

Preschool & Kindergarten (3-6-Year-Olds): use “Elevate Junior” curriculum written by Fellowship Church. Elevate Jr. grabs the children’s attention and takes them on a fun journey of biblical learning. PreK & Kindergarten have their own age-appropriate large group time that utilizes fantastic animations, puppets, music and graphics to help teach the lesson.
  • At 9:30am we use the classroom format to teach children how to apply Bible concepts and stories to their everyday lives. Games, Bible stories, a craft and table time activities make this a fun and memorable hour each week.
  • At 11 a.m. – For the three year olds we use a combination of the classroom format and the large group format, and includes video time.

1st – 4th Grade: use “Elevate Kids,” written by Fellowship Church. This unique curriculum allows our children’s programming to be fresh and new every 8 weeks with each fun theme! Elevate Kids utilizes fantastic animations, music and graphics to help teach the lesson.

  • At 9:30am the children are taught in grade level classrooms. The activities are fun, thought provoking and emphasize Bible application lessons. Each lesson is built around a Bible story, Bible verse and Main point.
  • At 11 a.m. the children come together for a large group lesson, where live actors use drama to teach the children how to apply Bible concepts and stories to their everyday lives.
